Verlan  Freeman
Verlan Freeman, 92, of Atkins, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, at her home. She was born May 20, 1921, in Pope County, daughter of the late Floyd and Nora Gabriel Hays.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Freeman; daughter, Carolyn Jo Freeman; 2 granddaughters, Lana Beth and Shawna Beth Parrish; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law, R.G. Hays and wife Virginia, Cecil Hays and wife Mary, Ray Hays and wife Ruby, and Joe Hays and wife Drucilla; 2 sisters and brother-in-laws, Cleo and husband George Goodall, and Ila Mae and husband Carol McGee.
She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and husband Glen Parrish, and Vickie Beachamp; 3 grandchildren, Michael Beachamp, Jonathan Parrish and wife Casey, and Kay-leigh Parrish; 6 great-grandchildren; adopted granddaughter, Maghan and husband Jacob Ennis; long-time friend and caregiver, Sandy Dollar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 20 at Lemley Chapel with Ricky Pruitt and Troy Coffman officiating. Burial is in Mt. Zion Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be John Freeman, Jerry Goodall, Doug Brinkley, Jacob Ennis, Burl Hays and Scott Harper. Honorary pallbearers are James Henderson, Glen Parrish, James Freeman, Floyd Freeman, Tyler Harris and David Rackley.
