Charles Young, 73, of Atkins, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospice Care in Little Rock. He was born December 19, 1939, in Morrilton, son of the late Robert Marvin and Mildred Gracie “Shorty” Young. He retired after 34 years with the Atkins Pickle Plant and was an avid golfer, long-time member of Galla Creek Golf Course, and attended Ada’s Bells Chapel Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Keith Young; 5 brothers, Tommy Young, Johnny Young, George Young, David Young and William Young; and 3 sisters, Anna Young, Donna Jones and Janet Hill.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Young; son, Mike Young and Della Solley; 2 daughters, Amanda Beene and Angela Tereza and husband Lonnie; 5 grandchildren, Charles Terry and wife Allison, Jennifer Terry, Justin Young and wife Jennifer, Brandi Young and Jade Beene; great-granddaughter, Lily Terry; brother, Raymond Young; and a sister, Mildred “Sissy” Bench.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 30, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Chad Duvall and Rev. Peggy Foster officiating. Burial is in St. Joe Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday.
Pallbearers are Charles Terry, Justin Young, Ray Young, Larry Don Jones, Terry Jones and Derek Young. Honorary pallbearers are Lonnie Tereza, Randy Young, Bobby Young and Timmy Young.
