Shirley Virden, 80, of Appleton, passed away Monday, June 24, 2019. She was born April 20, 1939, in Appleton, daughter of the late Claude and Selma Derryberry Scott. She worked at The Eureka restaurant until it closed, then for Valmac, and drove a truck for Willis Shaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Virden; her parents; sisters, Jeanie Ross, Betty Potts, and Golda Rollins; brothers, Louis Scott and James Scott; and stepsons, Roger and Steve Virden.
She is survived by a daughter, Melinda and husband Raymond Blackwell of Appleton; sister, Gail and husband D.L. Martin of Foster, Oklahoma; stepsons, Ron, Don, and John Virden of Atkins; stepdaughters, Patricia Hawman of Dallas, Texas, and Melody of California; 2 brothers, Richard Scott and wife Sissy, and Russell Scott and wife Sandy; 8 nephews; 7 nieces; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and caregiver, April Bishop.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 27 at Evans Mountain Full Gospel Church with Bro. Darwin Barnhouse officiating. Burial is in Walnut Grove Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, at Lemley Chapel.
