Ruby Metz, 83, of Olive Branch, Mississippi, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at North Delta Hospice in Southaven. She was born June 5, 1935, in Atkins, daughter of the late Truman and Hazel Reed May.
She was active in the Girl Scouts and 4-H. Ruby was elected neighborhood chairman for the Girl Scouts and was a delegate to Eagle Rock Eagle conference in 4-H. She was a graduate of Atkins High School where she enjoyed playing basketball.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Metz; brother, Glenn May and wife Sue; children, Eddie Metz and wife Carrie, Paula Prince and husband Wes Bowlin, Charlotte and husband James Lee, Pam Prince and husband Jay Lucas, and Pam and husband Phil Traylor; grandchildren, Mandy Michelle Ruff and husband Tim, Brandy Vaughn and husband Craig, Olivia Erin Ramsey and husband Drew, Jeremy Lucas, Miles Bowlin, and Zachary Lucas; and great-grandchildren, Oliver Lucas, Parker Ruff, Anna Katherine Ruff, Jameson Lee Vaughn, and Preston Eli Vaughn.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 11, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Roy Beth Kelley officiating. Burial is in Oakland Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
