Obituary for Marlo Magers

Marlo D Magers, 86, of Atkins, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2020, at St Mary's Regional Medical Center.

He was born August 26, 1934, in Traer, Kansas, son of the late Charles and Velma Rathbun Magers. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and infant brother.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Beatrice O'Malley Magers; his children, Dan (Missy) Magers of Branchville, SC, Mary Magers of Morrilton, AR, Floyd (Sandra) Magers of Atkins, AR, Paula Magers of Mt. Magazine, AR; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

Marlo was retired from Tyson where he worked as a dispatcher. He enjoyed volunteering at the Atkins Nursing Center where he loved calling Bingo, playing piano and singing for the residents. He received the Arkansas Volunteer of the Year Award in 2016 thanks to the staff at the nursing center. He was a past member of the Atkins PBA, and enjoyed working at the Pickle Fest and Christmas parades.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of Assumption at Atkins. He was a member of the choir and a past member of the church counsel.

He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed going to the donut shop and drinking coffee with his buddies.

Family service will be Friday September 25 at 10:00 am at the Church of Assumption with Father Ernie Hardesty under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be James Simpson, Nick Magers, Patrick Magers, Calvin Dunham, Pete Hagans and Bob Wenger.
