Jim Staggs, 72, of Atkins, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019, at his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born November 24, 1946, son of the late Willis and Mildred Brock Staggs. He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver and owned and operated Staggs Backhoe Service for many years. He loved playing with his grandkids, and was a hard worker who enjoyed what he did.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scotty Ryan; 3 brothers, Joe, Sam, and Ronnie Staggs; sister, Bobbie Roberts; and granddaughter, Jennifer Staggs.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene Staggs; son, Mike Staggs and wife Terrisa; daughter, Tammy and husband Mike Hamm; 6 grandchildren, Amber (Anthony) May, Kim (Billy) Parks, Dustin (Jessica) Wiley, Tiffany (Andrew) Willbanks, Heath Keene, and DaKota Hamm; 8 great-grandchildren, Libby and Aubrey May, Rustyn Eakin, Brylie Keene, Callie and Carter Wiley, Syelus Bewley and Taytum Willbanks; brother, Raymond (Sue) Staggs; sister-in-law, Linda Staggs; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM, Wednesday, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial is in Atkins City Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday, at Lemley Chapel.
Pallbearers are Ricky Staggs, Willis Staggs, Lynn Staggs, Ryan Staggs, Eddy Staggs, and Jamie Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Ollis, Raymond Staggs, Charlee Eblin, all grandkids, and all nurses and staff of Kindred Hospice.
