George W. Smith, 84, of Hector, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019, surrounded by family at his home. He was born September 18, 1934, in Lake Dick, Arkansas, son of the late George W. Smith, Sr., and Laura Alice McCormick Smith. He served 23 years in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. After he retired from the military, he spent many years as a truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and family get togethers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; a sister; and a son.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Christa Smith; 3 sons, Charles Smith and Debbie, Steven Smith, and Tyler Smith and wife Amanda; 2 daughters; a host of grandkids and great-grandkids; and numerous extended family and friends.
Graveside service and burial is 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 24, at Appleton Cemetery with Pastor Roy Smith officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
Pallbearers are Tyler Smith, David Smith, Charles Smith, Daniel Smith, Todd Julian, Bill Cook, and Steven Smith.
