Fredrick R. Shepard, 87, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born July 27, 1932, in Thomaston, Georgia, son of the late W.E. and Bessie Underwood Shepard. Fred loved Jesus and painted many pictures depicting this love. He knew from an early age that he was an artist, and entered into art school after serving in the U.S. Navy. He was amazed at what he learned, and later won a scholarship to study in Paris.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 17 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ferguson Shepard; daughter, Mollie S. Neufeld; son, Stanley Shepard; and a grandson, Ross Neufeld.
Private graveside service and burial is 11:00 AM, Friday, April 17, at Oakland Cemetery in Atkins with Chaplain Naomi Kendle officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Military honors will be provided by VFW Rogers-Rye Post #2283.
