Obituary for Eugene Church
Eugene Church, 95, of Atkins, passed away Friday, April 10, 2020, at the Atkins Nursing and Care Center. He was born March 10, 1925, in Hector, son of the late Jess and Ethel Pack Church. He was a member of the Atkins Church of Christ, a veteran of World War II, and loved tending to his garden, his grandchildren, and sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth and husband Earl Jones; and a son-in-law, Ronnie Staggs.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Wilma Church; son, Robert (Bobby) Church and Pam; daughter, Linda Staggs; sister, Lois and Billy Lawrence; grandchildren, Ronnie (Lynn) and Dana Staggs, Kristie Sampley, Ryan and Carla Staggs, Logan Church, Ethan Church, Jessica and Jordan Williams, Mia Church, and Kristy Sargent; and numerous great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service and burial with military honors will be held in Atkins City Cemetery with Ryan Staggs officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you to make a donation to those in need or to a local food pantry.
