Obituary for Elizabeth Atheleen Wade

Elizabeth "Atheleen" Wade, 97, of Russellville, died Sunday, January 22, 2023 surrounded by her family at the River Valley Hospice House. She was born on February 11, 1925, to the Henry Duel and Ora Etta Patterson.

She grew up in the Buttermilk area and went to school in Pottsville, then later attended Arkansas Polytechnic College. She married Emmett Wade on August 5, 1945. She was a member of the 5th and Greenwich church of Christ. In her early working years, she was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a switchboard operator. She also worked for many years in retail for Jack & Jill and The Fashion House. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 65 years.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Elaine Wade of Searcy and Tony and Bettye Wade of Russellville, seven grandchildren and spouses, Seth and Karla Wade of Little Rock, Kelli and Kyle Lamberson of Russellville, Amanda and Trent Taylor of Van Buren, Teri and Chad Mitchell of Russellville, Craig and Sarah Wade of Searcy, Natalie and Michael Whitlow of Celina, TX, and Steven and Brittany Wade of Bonne Terre, MO; 16 great-grandchildren, Emily and Joshua Wade, Wade, Wesley, and Will Lamberson, Reagan and Max Mitchell, Anniston Taylor, Maelyah, Jacob, and Matthew Wade, Tripp and Emmett Whitlow, Scout, Rowan, and Landry Wade and one more on the way.

Mam-maw had an incredible life of 97 years and 11 months. She loved her family, and was adored by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will certainly be missed, but we will all cherish the many years of memories of our Mam-maw.

A private service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Russellville under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Pallbearers are Seth, Craig, and Steven Wade, Kyle Lamberson, Chad Mitchell, Trent Taylor and Michael Whitlow.
