Obituary for Doyle Leonard Cook

Doyle L. Cook (84) of Atkins passed away Monday, March 21st at his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1938 in Star City AR, the son of William Ottis and
Lela Morgan Cook.
He attended Arkansas A & M, and the University of Arkansas Fayetteville
where he earned a bachelor and masters degree in Ag Economics. In 1960
he married Peggy Rackley of Atkins and together they celebrated 61 years of
marriage. Doyle joined the Ralston Purina Co. in Shreveport LA as a trainee and
eventually became the General Manager in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin for 5
years. Doyle then joined the Farm Credit System in St. Louis as an
Assistant VP of Credit. He served the Farm Credit System in Arkansas,
Kentucky, Texas and Washington. In 1994 He was appointed by President
Bill Clinton to serve for 6 years on the Farm Credit Administration Board in
DC. After retirement, Doyle and Peggy moved to Conway and purchased the
Circle C Ranch in Blackwell. They then moved to Atkins where Doyle was
active in the PBA, Lions Club, Riding Club and served on the Southwestern
Water Board. Doyle was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Russellville. Doyle and Peggy have been active in churches wherever they
have lived. He served as a deacon, Bible study teacher, music leader, as
well as president of the Minnesota/Wisconsin Baptist Fellowship.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parents: Ottis and Lela Cook.

He is survived by his wife Peggy Cook of Atkins; Brothers O.C. Cook of Crystal
River, FL; James Cook & wife Marilyn Sue of South Haven, MS; Sons Kevin
Cook & wife Ginger of Atkins, Michael Cook & wife Trish of Poway, CA and
Grandchildren Katy Cook, Paul Cook, Phillip Cook and Ellie Cook. He also
leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces, friends and family.

Visitation will be held 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Friday, March 25, at Lemley Chapel.

Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Greg Sykes and Rev. Keith Shipley officiating. Burial will be held in Pisgah Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.

Pallbearers are Jim Davidson, Doug Spence, Jimmy Powell, John Berry, Randy Morgan, and Junior Kelly.

The family gives a special thanks to Dr. John Ransom, nurse Christina Barnett
and the staff of the LVAD unit at Baptist Health hospital in Little Rock.
