Obituary for Dorothy G. Wiley

Dorothy Ann Godbey Wiley, 91, formerly of Atkins, stepped into the arms of Jesus on October 9, 2021. Dorothy was born on January 16, 1930, in Russellville, Arkansas, the third child of the late Andrew Wyle Godbey Sr. and Ora Lee Gamble.

She graduated from Atkins High School in 1947 then married the late James E. Wiley Sr. of Atkins, Arkansas. They made their home in Atkins where Dorothy worked at the Bank of Atkins for 33 years. She retired as Vice President in 1996. Dorothy also trained as a first responder when the City of Atkins started their program in 1983 and remained with them until 1997. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atkins and an avid Razorback fan. Dorothy lived her life always in the service to others in her community, church, and family.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and siblings, Andrew Wyle Godbey Jr., Marilyn Jean Woodson, Lynn Sisney Godbey, Martha Ruth Godbey Miller, Donald Edward Godbey and Wanda Jane Godbey Cariker.

She is survived by sister, Joyce Godbey Moore; 2 sons and their spouses, Jim E. Jr. & Kathleen Wiley of Van Buren, Arkansas and Andy L. & Margaret Wiley of Alma, Arkansas; grandchildren, Cindy & Rick Jeffries of Rogersville, Missouri, Wendy & Troy Lentz of Carrollton, Missouri, Josh & Danyel Wiley of Kansas City, Missouri, Jessica & Daniel Dietz of Alma, Arkansas, Nathan & Lisa Hill of Salt Lake City, Utah, Janna & Brent Viebrock of Greenridge, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Riley Jeffries, Savannah Lentz, Laney Lentz, JT Lentz, Daniel & Sarah Dietz, Courtney Dietz, Gabriel Dietz, Dakota Wiley, Lilyan Viebrock, and Reegan Viebrock; great great granddaughter Mya Dietz.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 16, at Atkins First Baptist Church in Atkins, Arkansas with Pastor Ira Taylor officiating. Burial will be held in Atkins City Cemetery under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers are Eddie Bradford, Kim Woodson, Lynn Embry, Larry Wiley, John Wiley, Charlie Abernathy, Jerome Cassell and Robin Miller. Honorary Pallbearers are Pat Duvall, Genevieve Lemley, Julie Embry, Melinda Arrington, Janan Shipley, and Atkins First Responders.
