Obituary for Dennis Ward
Dennis Ward, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and son, peacefully departed this life Tuesday, November 16th, 2021.
Born in Lakehurst, New Jersey, Dennis met Pattie in 1973 and married a year later, and relocated to Russellville in 1980. A 12-year veteran, he served in both the US Army (4 years) and Navy (8 years). A graduate of Arkansas Tech, he worked as a Nuclear Engineer at Arkansas Nuclear One for 24 years. In retirement, Dennis became a farmer and Master Gardener, managing 50 acres of land and cattle. He hiked a portion of the Appalachian Trail between 2015 and 2017, and remained a lover of hiking and the outdoors as a member of FOOT(Friends of the Ouachita Trail). Most recently, he served as a church Elder at Zion Lutheran Church in Augsburg, where he and Pattie were an integral part of their church family.
The son of the late Earl Ward, Jr., and Edna Burrell Ward, Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pattie, his brothers Jerry, Steve (Gerilyn) Ward, and Brian (Donna) Ward, and preceded in death by his sister Brenda Coulter. His love lives on through his sons Andy (Meshell), and Dan (Heather), and his adored grandchildren Zachary, Zoie, and Jonah.
