Obituary for Danny Sorey

Danny Dewayne Sorey, 72, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born September 9, 1947, in Paris, Arkansas, son of the late Wayne Sorey and Eva Lee Young Wade.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam and loved his country. He worked as a Logan County EMT and for Pope County Sherriff’s Office for more than 28 years. He loved to drive his corvette with the top down and take long drives with Laura. Danny and Laura were high school sweethearts but took different paths and found each other again later in life. They were married for 23 years, and enjoyed playing golf together, boating, and fishing. He loved his English bulldogs, K.C., Belle and Bella.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jimmy Dale Sorey.

He is survived by his wife, Laura Sorey; daughter, Christie Carpenter (Vince); 2 step-sons, Billy Benson (Lori) and James Benson (Marci); grandchildren, Tristan Carpenter, Ashleigh Benson, Addelyn Benson, Jack Benson, Brady Benson, and Avery Benson; 2 brothers, Gary Sorey and Curtis Sorey; a sister, Mary Ann Reed; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Graveside service and burial is 2:00 PM, Friday, May 22, at McKendree Cemetery in Subiaco with Bro. Earl Helton officiating under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
