Obituary

Carroll Berman Haney was born July 21, 1922 in Atkins, Arkansas to Sewood Franklin and Ethel Jackson Haney. He was the youngest of three children. He grew up and lived in Atkins all of his life, except for a short time when he and his family moved to Woodland Park, Colorado.
Carroll was married to Wanda Burris on January 19, 1946 and soon after began work at Oberman Manufacturing (later Levi Strauss) in Morrilton as a sewing machine mechanic.
Carroll and Wanda had two children, his daughter Susan and son Philip. His family was the light of his life.
Carroll grew up on the family farm and learned all kinds of trades. He was a carpenter, learning much about the trade from his older brother Dyal. He, along with his father and brother, processed and sold sorghum molasses for many years. Carroll never lost his love of farming, once having extensive interest in poultry, cattle, and swine.
Carroll also served his community as an Atkins City Alderman (1970s) and deacon of St. Joe Freewill Baptist Church (1990s). Many improvements to the town were made by the city
government during the time he served as a council member, such as the library, fire station, swimming pool and water treatment plant.
Carroll also had a wonderful sense of humor and could be funny without even meaning to be. After his brother in law (Eddie Snyder) finished his second handmade fiddle, Carroll remarked, "Eddie, if you get any better at making these, it won't be a fiddle, it will be a violin."
Carroll was preceded in death by his wife (Wanda Burris Haney), parents (Sewood & Ethel Haney), brother (Dyal Haney), and sister (Aylene Gales). He is survived by son and daughter in law, Philip and Shannon Haney, of Atkins, daughter and son in law, Susan and EL Atkins of
Arlington, TX, grandson, Matthew and Amy lsely of Clarksville, AR, granddaughter, Amanda and Joel Perry, of Conway, AR, granddaughter, Sarah and Lance Ketchum of Atkins, grandson, Seth Haney of Atkins, great-grandchildren, Ethan and Gavin Perry of Conway, AR., Caitlin lsely of Atkins, Camden lsely of Clarksville, AR, Emilia Grace Ketchum of Atkins and step great-grandchildren, Connor Barnes of Atkins, and Chloe Yarbrough of Clarksville, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Lemley Funeral Service. Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 18 at St. Joe Freewill Baptist Church in Atkins under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
Pallbearers are Matthew lsely, Seth Haney, Lance Ketchum, Jessie Jones, Connor Barnes, Joel Perry, Ethan Perry, and Gavin Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Snyder, Danny Duvall, Danny Higgins, and Jerry Davis.
