Arkie Marie Darter, 91, of Atkins, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 18, 2020, surrounded by her daughters and the compassionate staff of the Atkins Nursing and Care Center. She was born May 27, 1928, in Buttermilk Community, daughter of the late William and Esther Darter Burris.
She was of the Assembly of God Faith and led many to the Lord. She was a homemaker who loved to garden, can, and cook. She was and excellent seamstress who made clothes for every member of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Audrey Ennis; brothers, Alvie Burris and James Burris; daughter, Linda McCuin; son, Ramon Darter; and loving husband of 70 years, Burl Darter.
She is survived by a brother, Melvin Burris; sisters, Shirley Roberts and Jean Cothern; 2 daughters, Brenda and husband Mike Huse of Buttermilk; and Glenda and Jerry McCuin of Appleton; daughter-in-law, Judy Darter of Buttermilk; 2 grandsons, Nathan Darter and Jeff Biffle; granddaughters, Carla Oakes, Rhonda Lumberas; Rebecca Davis, Sara Turney, Christina Reed, and Bethany George; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Private burial is in Tate Cemetery, under the direction of Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
