Obituary for Jerry Wayne Duvall

Jerry Wayne  Duvall
Jerry Wayne Duvall, 66, of Pottsville, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born January 12, 1947, at Pine Ridge, south of Pottsville, to the late Charles and Nona Ruth Burris Duvall.
Jerry worked for Firestone and was a dedicated farmer. He was a charter member of the Pottsville Volunteer Fire Department and the Russellville Firestone United Rubber Workers union. He served on the Pottsville Fire Department for more than 20 years, was a Pottsville City Alderman for 18 years, and served as Pottsville Mayor for 16 years. He was a member of the Pottsville Lion’s Club, Pope County Farm Bureau, Pope County Cattleman’s Association, and the Arkansas River Valley Farmer’s Association. Jerry was dedicated to the community in which he grew up and raised his family, often donating not only his time but also use of any equipment that he had.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Larry Duvall; father- and mother-in-law, Ike and Maureen Brewer; and brothers-in-law James Brewer and Leland Patterson.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Louetta Jane Brewer Duvall of Pottsville; sister Glenda Kimball and husband Gary of Dover; brother Eddie Duvall and wife Judy of Wooster; sister-in-law Christy Duvall of Pottsville, brother-in-law and sister-in law Robert and Wanda Brewer of Conway; sisters-in-law Betty Brewer of Atkins and Rosie Patterson of Appleton; daughters Pamela Scarber and husband, Tim; Laura Porter and fiancé Billy Smardo and son Jacob Smardo; Benita Drew and husband Jason, all of Pottsville; grandchildren Zachary Vaughn, Logan Porter, Issac and Issabella Drew, all of Pottsville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 9, at Lemley Chapel with Rev. Hank Duvall officiating. Burial is in Pisgah Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Duvall, Kevin Duvall, Tom Jones, Terry Brewer, Brad Judkins, Jake Miller, and Gary Ballard. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Jackson, Charles Oates, Larry Harris, Adolph Vodrazka, Kenneth Taylor, the Pottsville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Pottsville Rockets baseball team.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pope County Historical Foundation (Potts Inn Museum) 15 2nd Street, Pottsville, AR 72858 or to the Pottsville Volunteer Fire Department, 173 E. Ash St., Pottsville, AR 72858.
